Our Services - CAD CAM

CAD/CAM, acronym for Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing has been used for decades to develop precision tools for automobiles. Over the past 2 decades, the technology has been largely incorporated into dentistry as well.

The CAD/CAM technology is used by dentists to provide patients with onlays, veneers, ceramic crowns, bridges, etc. Moreover, it is also used to fabricate abutments for dental implants. CAD/CAM restorations are considered to be the more durable and natural looking than other kinds of restorations.

About the process
CAD/CAM enables dentists to design restorations right onto the computer screen. The computer displays a 3D image of the prepared tooth obtained using an optical scanner. The image is then used to design the final restoration. The time taken for to design a restoration varies depending on the skills and experience of the designer or the laboratory technician.

Once the restoration design is ready, the veneer or the bridge is then milled in a milling chamber. The restoration is then customized using stains to give it a natural look. It is then added to the flames and finally receives the much needed polish.

Research shows that CAD/CAM restorations are stronger than those created out of earlier materials. As a result, they are less likely to facture.
